Former Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter has been picked up by the Adam Gase-led Jets as a running backs coach, according to a new report.
Cooter, who parted ways with the Lions last season, failed to secure another offensive coordinator position. However, he was officially announced as part of the Jets team today, along with 13 other people.

Assistant head coach/wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson, offensive line coach Frank Pollack, assistant offensive line coach Derek Frazier, offensive assistant Bo Hardegree, assistant head coach/linebackers coach Frank Bush, defensive line coach Andre Carter, senior defensive assistant/outside linebackers coach Joe Vitt, defensive assistant Blake Williams and defensive assistant Eric Sanders are also new to the team.”
In addition to being the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator for three years, Cooter served in coaching positions for the Indianapolis Colts, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Denver Broncos. He got his start with the Detroit Lions as the quarterbacks coach before getting promoted to the offensive coordinator position. He stayed in that position until January of this year, when the Lions announced that his contract wouldn't be renewed.
Jim Bob Cooter also served as a coach for his college alma mater, University of Tennessee, where he also played college football. Cooter was known as the backup quarterback for the University of Tennessee when he was there.
