The New York Jets suffered another tough loss on Monday night, falling to the Cleveland Browns 23-3 after being forced to put in third-string quarterback Luke Falk. Following the game, Jets safety Jamal Adams reportedly unfollowed the team on Instagram, although he claims the issue is nonexistent.

After being benched for the final five minutes of the game, Adams spoke to the media following the game via Pro Football Talk, where he said that the benching was for anticipating something wrong.

“I tried to anticipate a play and anticipated it wrong. They benched me,” Adams said.

The reported unfollowing came after both the benching and loss, although Adams said on Tuesday that his focus is still on being a member of the New York Jets. Adams called the social media issue “outside noise” and repeatedly said that. he was just focused on “this team,” before being asked if he thinks the Jets can be a winner.

“I strongly believe so. It’s a special place. It’s a special atmosphere at MetLife,” Adams said. “We just have to get it together. . . . We just have to keep fighting.”

The next time Adams will have a chance to prove that the Jets can compete is next week, when the team takes on the red hot New England Patriots.

After dropping their first two games of the year, the Jets will be heavy underdogs against the Patriots, and it won’t get any easier for Adams and the defense.

Not only do the Patriots now have Antonio Brown, but they’re also coming off of two huge victories themselves.
