New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold had the worst performance of his NFL career on Monday night, completing just 11 of his 32 passes for 86 yards and four interceptions during a 33-0 loss to the New England Patriots. That was good for a passer rating of 3.6.

While he was mic'd up during the game, ESPN cameras caught Darnold saying he was “seeing ghosts,” something you really don't want getting out there if you are Darnold and the Jets.

New York was understandably furious after the game, and on Tuesday, running back Le'Veon Bell tweeted his displeasure about the situation.

I'm sure in due time, this will all blow over, and in reality, it's probably not something that will have any effect on Darnold moving forward, but stuff like this needs to be kept off the air.

Darnold is almost surely not the only quarterback to express that type of frustration on the sideline this season, but, unfortunately, his reaction was the only one that cameras and microphones picked up (and, for some reason, cleared).

In three starts this season, Darnold has thrown for 599 yards, three touchdowns and five picks while completing 59 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 64.7.

The second-year signal-caller missed three games with mono and just returned last week against the Dallas Cowboys, where he threw for a much more impressive 338 yards and a pair of touchdowns with an interception while completing 71.9 percent of his passes.

The Jets fell to 1-5 with their loss to the Patriots and will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.
