With the first four weeks of the 2019 NFL season officially in the books after Monday night, the New York Jets are hoping to get their promising young quarterback back on the field sooner rather than. The Jets are currently sitting at 0-3 and are in desperate need of a spark when they get back from the bye week.
Unfortunately for New York, the team will seemingly have to wait a little longer get Sam Darnold back under center with a disappointing update on Monday. Head coach Adam Gase clearly wasn't thrilled with the fact that Darnold may not play in Week 5, according to J.P. Pelzman of Forbes.com.
Jets coach Adam Gase says Sam Darnold has been cleared for non-contact practice. It's still unclear if he will be able to play Sunday at Philadelphia. 'It's not ideal,' Gase said in terms of doling out QB reps this week to Darnold and Luke Falk

The Jets have another tough challenge ahead of them as they're set to face Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5. The Eagles are coming off an impressive win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 4 and will certainly be a tall task for the struggling Jets.
With Darnold on the shelf due to his illness, New York has been going with Luke Falk at quarterback. Falk has struggled in the two games he's played this season as he has yet throw a touchdown pass and currently has a QBR of 29.5.
If Darnold continues on his current path this week, Falk may need to start under center for at least one more week. This is obviously not ideal for New York who are as desperate as any team in the league for a step in the right direction. However, things could quickly change over the course of the week with Darnold getting back on the field not out of the realm of possibility.
