New York Jets cornerback Trumaine Johnson was back at practice on Thursday and will play in his team's regular-season finale against the New England Patriots this Sunday, according to Mike Mazzeo of The New York Post.

Johnson had been benched at practice on Wednesday due to something Jets head coach Todd Bowles would only call an “in-house matter.”

Neither Johnson nor Bowles extrapolated on the matter, but Johnson seems ready to go for this weekend.

“Throughout the whole year I think he made some plays, and I think he had some plays he’d like to do over. So, as a whole, he’s been solid,” Jets defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said of Johnson.

Johnson is in his first year with New York after signing a massive five-year, $72.5 million contract with the team back in March.

Overall this season, he has registered 40 tackles, four interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, a defensive touchdown, and five passes defended.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Montana, was originally selected by the St. Louis Rams in the third round (65th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He spent the first six years of his career with the Rams, making a name for himself in 2015 when he finished with 71 tackles, seven picks, a fumble recovery, a defensive touchdown, and 17 passes defended.

The Jets currently own a record of 4-11 and will miss the playoffs yet again. New York has not made the postseason since the 2010-11 campaign, when it made it to the AFC Championship Game.
