The Washington Redskins won't be playing in a prime time game during the 2020 season for the first time since 1982, according to Matthew Paras of the Washington Times.

The closest the Redskins get to a big-time prime time game is when they face off with the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving afternoon. The last time the Redskins didn't have a prime time game, the only prime time game available was Monday Night Football.

The Redskins are probably going to have a down year, but Dwayne Haskins is a young quarterback that will have a lot of eyes on him, so not putting him in prime time is a bit of a surprise. The only other team that doesn't get a prime time game is the Detroit Lions.

The max number of prime time games a team can get is five, and five teams have that honor this year of maxing out the allotment. The Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all are playing in prime time.

The Patriots getting all five prime-time slots is a bit of a surprise with Tom Brady not on the squad anymore, but they are still one of the NFL's most popular teams.

Even though this appears to be the trajectory now for the Redskins, things could always change. The NFL has the ability to flex games late in the season, but for that to happen, the Redskins will probably be needing to play well.

If they are struggling, their prime time streak is going to end.
