The Philadelphia Eagles earned an impressive win over the New Orleans Saints last week but emerged from the victory with a casualty. Star corner Darius Slay sustained a head injury and was in the NFL's concussion protocol. The Eagles- and Slay himself- provided an update on his status and it will excite Philadelphia fans.

That's big for the Eagles that Darius ‘Big Play' Slay has cleared the concussion protocol. Slay practiced fully on Thursday, a positive sign, then came right out on Friday and said that he will be active and on the field for the upcoming divisional tilt with the New York Giants.

Slay has earned every letter of his nickname over the last couple of weeks, coming up with defensive touchdowns in each of the last two Eagles contests, both of them wins.

Slay has also been pivotal in the Eagles' coverage of opposing team's top receivers, which could come in handy against Giants' wideout Kenny Golladay, who has been quiet this year but has put up some big performances in the past.

There's no doubt that the game between the Eagles and Giants will be a testy one. It's also a big one for the Eagles, who are just two games back of the divisional lead after the Dallas Cowboys' loss on Thanksgiving.

It's fitting that Darius ‘Big Play' Slay won't miss this big game.
