The Philadelphia Eagles lost their starting running back to an ACL tear, and Doug Pederson took some time to address trade rumors about a replacement. Last season, the Eagles acquired Jay Ajayi in a surprising mid-season deal with the Miami Dolphins. The team gradually introduced him to the offense each week. He had a big impact on taking the Eagles to the next level. Injuries have continued to plague the Eagles this season. It looks like they'll have to pull off another mid-season miracle soon. The Eagles have been linked to interest in Le'Veon Bell, but they're exploring all of their options.
“Howie [Roseman] is going to continue to look and see what's out there, see what's available and see if there is somebody we need to bring in,” Pederson told 247Sports. “But in the short term, we're very confident in the guys we have and these guys have worked extremely hard and excited for their opportunity.”
The Eagles are tied for second in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys. Doug Pederson hopes to rebound from last week's 23-21 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Getting a win against the New York Giants in Week 6 would be huge. Since it's a divisional game, it's extremely important.
If they pursue outside help, Pederson wants the Eagles to get a veteran that fits their dynamic. Darren Sproles can make plays, but he's not an every down back. The team needs pass protection for Carson Wentz. They'll take their time when selecting a replacement, but they know they should sign at least one new back.
