One of the most surprising trades before the NFL trade deadline was the Detroit Lions sending Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third-round draft pick. Early on the trade looked like a bust for the Eagles with the team losing their first two games and Tate not really having a role on the team. Now the narrative is changing though with the Eagles winning two games in a row and Tate becoming a big part of the offense. On Monday night against the Washington Redskins, Tate had seven catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.
The Lions, on the other hand, have struggled to go 1-4 since the trade, and they Matthew Stafford has lost his go-to guy when he needs a big catch.
Tate said it took a bit to get used to playing in the Eagles offense, but he is feeling better now, and it has shown with the results.

“I forgot what it was like because I was in Seattle for four years [including the last two with Russell Wilson] and in Detroit [with Matthew Stafford] for 4 ½ years. Things just kind of came natural. Things that [with the Eagles] you have to go back and talk about and work through things.’’
Tate is a free agent after this season, and it's unclear if the Eagles will resign him but if the Eagles continue to win and Tate continues to play well, this trade will be considered a success.
