Following the first Super Bowl win in franchise history, the Philadelphia Eagles have restrained from taking their foot off the pedal by continuing to strengthen the roster this offseason. A steady bulk of that has come with adding pieces to their defensive unit with proven talent across the board.
Despite being limited financially this offseason, the front office has continued to find a way to bring aboard more talent. According to Mike Garafolo of The NFL Network, the Eagles have agreed to terms on a deal with former Detroit Lions linebacker Paul Worrilow.
Eagles are signing LB Paul Worrilow, source says. Headed to Philly after a year with the Lions. Former Delaware Blue Hen comes home … sorta.

Worrilow is coming off his lone campaign with the Lions where he registered 30 total tackles with a fumble recovery, and a pass deflection while playing in 13 games played. The 27-year-old also proved to be a valuable asset in special teams with Detroit in more of a role player spot on the roster.
He has transitioned to that type of position over the last couple of seasons after he was a key cog defensively for the Atlanta Falcons in his first three years in the league. This includes posting at least 95 tackles in each of those campaigns including topping 125 tackles twice over that span. There could be an opportunity with the Eagles for him to recapture his high level of production that he had to begin his career.
The addition of Worrilow could likely signal that the Eagles are moving on from veteran linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who has been the subject of trade rumors over the last few weeks. This notion had become louder with the team electing to re-sign Nigel Bradham and brought aboard Corey Nelson on a one-year deal this offseason.
These moves have created a major crowding at the position on the roster that could make Kendricks' $7.6 million cap hit next season more of a burdensome hold for the front office. What makes matters more intriguing is that the Eagles could potentially save $4.4 million if the team either trade or cut him prior to June 1.
Aside from this pending situation, the addition of Worrilow provides another proven asset to their defense for the 2018 campaign.
