The New England Patriots are the heavy favorites going into Super Bowl LII. However, Philadelphia Eagles players, like defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, like their chances this Sunday.

The Patriots have the clear edge in championship experience with head coach Bill Belichick and star quarterback Tom Brady leading the way. Still, according to Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media, Jernigan was adamant that the Eagles aren't intimidated by New England's success:

“Not even a little bit,” Jernigan said. “Not even a little bit, man. This team out here is full of dogs. This team is full of guys that are searching for opportunity. Everybody’s hungry, from the players to the coaches, to the staff, everybody. I think that’s what makes us different than a lot of teams that have played them.

“I just want to come out and pay my respects to not just Brady, but the entire New England Patriots team, by having one of my better games. That’s going to be my way of showing my respect. I’m going to give them everything I’ve got. Every single guy on this team is going to do the same thing.”

Philadelphia has heard the doubts loud and clear ever since star quarterback Carson Wentz went down with a season-ending ACL tear. As a result, they have embraced their underdog status by playing with a chip on their shoulder throughout the postseason.

They made headlines in the week leading up to the NFC Championship game versus the Minnesota Vikings after videos surfaced of the team getting pumped up for the game thanks to being home underdogs, again. Needless to say, that energy will undoubtedly be magnified this Sunday.

Jernigan will serve as one of the anchors next to star defensive tackle Fletcher Cox on an Eagles' defense that needs to have a huge game if they're going to top the Patriots. History has proven that a formidable pass rush is the key to New England's defeat in this stage.
