Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is anxious to get back after being sidelined for nearly the entire 2019 campaign. Despite the extended time off, it seems expectations have not changed going into the 2020 NFL season.
According to Ed Bouchette of The Athletic, Ben Roethlisberger still has high hopes of adding a couple more Super Bowl rings to his trophy case:
“I still want to win Lombardis. And I say that with an s on the end.”
Although the Steelers have not been pegged among the favorites to secure a trip to Tampa Bay at the end of the season, Roethlisberger's optimism is certainly understandable. While they may have fallen just short of the playoffs over the last two seasons, this has not done much to temper their expectations going into each year.
Pittsburgh was deemed to be poised for a lost year when Ben Roethlisberger went down with season-ending elbow injury in Week 2. However, the team doubled down on their playoff hopes by acquiring safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to provide a major boost to the defense and he helped vindicate their decision by sparking a resurgence down their stretch.
Unfortunately, their struggles under center were too much to overcome as they finished with an 8-8 record. Regardless, there were still plenty of silver linings for Ben Roethlisberger to look forward to with his return.
