Bruce Arians is not here for the Antonio Brown drama.
The formidable coach and incoming Buccaneers head coach worked with the troubled wide receiver while he was still a rookie, when he served as the offensive coordinator for the Steelers.
And what Arians has seen over the years hasn't exactly thrilled him.
Arians took to the Adam Schefter Podcast to share his opinion about the beleaguered Steeler.
Article Continues Below“There's too much miscommunication, too much … diva. I've heard so many stories — I like Antonio — he plays as hard as anybody on Sunday, and he practices hard. He's just gotta make better decisions off the field, be on time, do some of those little things.”
Bruce Arians has been keeping an eye on Antonio Brown since he was first drafted in 2010, and while he has no doubt that Brown is a good player, he thinks that Brown's stellar playing has been overshadowed by his drama with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and the subsequent behavior in the gossip blogs.
Arians remembers, fondly, what Brown was like when he first started out.
“He and Emmanuel Sanders, boy they went after it because [Steelers head coach] Mike Tomlin used to tell them, ‘Two dogs, one bone.' And at that time, we had Mike Wallace, Hines Ward — I mean, we had a pretty good run for one of them to get on the field. By the end of the season, they were both winning for us to go to the Super Bowl.”
While Bruce Arians is preparing to hopefully lead the Bucs to a playoff — and possibly Super Bowl — run next year, Antonio Brown is still twisting in the wind with the Steelers, as team president Art Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Brown would not be released but that “all other options are on the table” when it comes to his future with the team.
