Chase Claypool and Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers know that quarantining during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has made it increasingly difficult for NFL teammates to train together like they usually would during the offseason. This is especially important for a quarterback and a rookie wide receiver who need to develop chemistry together.

In the case of the Pittsburgh Steelers, rookie wideout Chase Claypool has been staying at his home in Canada during the pandemic — away from Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. However, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, Claypool is heading to the U.S. soon and has said that Roethlisberger has been texting in a team group chat about getting together to train soon.

The Steelers drafted Claypool with the 49th overall pick in the second round of the recent NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. At 6-foot-4 and 238 pounds, Claypool wowed scouts at the 2020 combine by running a 4.42 forty-yard dash and posting 40.5-inch vertical.

Claypool impressed as a senior in South Bend catching 66 passes for 1,037 yards and 13 touchdowns. Now he is with the Steelers.

The Steelers have been known for drafting quality receivers outside the first round in recent years with players such as Antonio Brown, Juju Smith-Schuster, Martavis Bryant, James Washington and Diontae Johnson all making an impact during their times in Pittsburgh

The Steelers hope Claypool can become the next in line as the veteran Roethlisberger returns for his 16th career season after he has been rehabbing an elbow injury that kept him out for all but two games last season.

Claypool joins a Steelers receiving group that includes Smith-Schuster, Johnson, Washington and tight end Vance McDonald.
