Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin admitted on Tuesday that he is still a little numb with how the season ended, according to Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

The Steelers are a team that is used to making the playoffs, so it makes sense that it still hasn't sunken in that their season is over. The Steelers needed a win in their last game against the Baltimore Ravens, along with a loss by the Tennessee Titans to make the playoffs. Neither of those things happened, and the Steelers' season ended in Week 17.

It was a tough year for the Steelers because of the injuries, and that took a toll on everyone, including Tomlin.

“For me personally, challenging year, but they all are. I haven't spent a lot of time weighing the dust settling. I’m sure I’ll be doing some of that self-analysis in ways that I can lead the group better and get better.”

As disappointing as it was for the Steelers to not make the playoffs, it was quite impressive what Tomlin got out of the team with the cards he was dealt. He seemed to keep pushing the right buttons with Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph, starting the right guys to get success.

Next season all signs point towards Ben Roethlisberger coming back, which means the team should be back to having a lot of success. If he can learn from some of the struggles this season, it's only going to make him a better coach in the long term.
