This offseason was a tumultuous one for the Pittsburgh Steelers lost both Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. With the trade of Antonio Brown, the Steelers are in a special group of teams in the NFL.
According to Spotrac, Pittsburgh has the fourth-most dead cap space in the NFL. Dead cap space is when you have a player you are still paying for but he is no longer with the team.
This is a group you don't want to be in when talking about football. The only three teams ahead of the Steelers are the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals. So, they are involved with three teams who all missed the playoffs in 2018.
Although, the Steelers also missed the playoffs after a drama-filled season involving Bell and Brown. To help with their cap situation, the Steelers converted some of Stephon Tuitt's salary to a roster bonus. That move gives them a little more wiggle room but they still don't have much money to spend.

For the Steelers, they are trying to move forward as a team this season after a disastrous end to the 2018 season. Missing the playoffs is a rare occurrence for the Steelers—especially in the way it happened last year.
Mike Tomlin and company are focused on bettering their team but if they need money to improve their roster, that may become a problem soon.
