Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay has an incredible ability to recall plays, and his only explanation is that he has “no life,” according to ESPN's Lindsey Thiry. “Other than I love football,” McVay added.

Bleacher Report recently posted a video clip in which McVay was asked about certain plays from the past few years, and he was able to tell what play was run along with the result of the play:

McVay admitted it's actually just from rewatching the plays. He rewatches a ton of film and that helps him recall plays from the past:

“It's not like I'm just recalling it and that's the only time you've ever done it from,” he said. “These are things that we as coaches always go back through. So, it's kind of something that you're always revisiting, especially when it's relevant plays.”

Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who has been in the league for 41 years, has been impressed by the recall ability. Phillips says it's something that not all coaches have:

“I think it's a common between savants,” Phillips said. “He has got tremendous recall, but he has got great people skills, too, and that's the difference in him and some real smart guy. He's way above my head, that's for sure.”

As impressive as the memory is, McVay says it doesn't extend outside football:

“It is not a joke,” McVay said, “when I say I really do not remember anything else.”

McVay and the Rams will look to go 2-0 when they host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
