Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is at this point playing for huge sums of money, doesn't want to hear about your idea that his teammates gave up against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night.
Following a loss to Dallas, Kirk Cousins was angered over that very idea after it was inferred to him in the postgame presser.
“If you think it was a lack of effort, then you really just don’t know football,” Cousins said.
For what it is worth, the Redskins have been absolutely ravaged by injuries at this point. While this is only an opinion, it is my belief that it is why Washington is starting to dip a bit in play.
Article Continues BelowAnother for what it is worth, with this one having far more merit, Washington coach Jay Gruden also doesn't believe the effort level was the issue.
“I don’t say it was flat,” Jay Gruden told reporters regarding the team’s performance during a fairly brief media appearance following the 38-14 loss. “I say we just dropped the ball. We had two fumbles and a dropped pass that resulted in an interception. So I don’t think we came out flat. We just didn’t protect the football. . . . I think the effort’s fine. We just got beat today. . . . Credit them for making the plays. We just didn’t make any.”
Regardless, at least for Cousins, the final few games are incredibly important. It can help decide if the front office is willing to give him huge lump sums of money, or if he might be playing elsewhere next season.
Or, more than likely, if he will get franchise tagged.
