Multiple superstar wide receivers in the NFL are trying to get new contracts with their respective teams. On Wednesday, news dropped that Deebo Samuel had requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers. Teams across the league are likely drooling at the idea of acquiring the star receiver, but Samuel might have thrown a curveball at the media.
Deebo Samuel took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with sports reporters and the media. In the tweet, he calls out reporters for making up stories and backs it up by stating “only people (who) know (the) truth about (the) situation (are the) 49ers, Tory Dandy, and Deebo Samuel.”

It's surprising that Samuel is making these claims, as Jeff Darlington, the reporter who originally broke the news, says he spoke with the 49ers' star receiver about the situation. Deebo Samuel's latest statement is completely opposite of Darlington's original report. So now, it's completely unclear what is going on between San Francisco and their superstar wide receiver.
Breaking News: I just spoke to wide receiver Deebo Samuel — and he told me that he has asked the 49ers to trade him.
He did not want to discuss specific reasons behind his request, but he has indeed let the 49ers know his desire to leave the organization. More to come.

We'll see how this all plays out. The 49ers were adamant in not wanting to trade Samuel after the original reports broke the news cycle. Additionally, San Francisco is one of the best teams in the NFC and Deebo Samuel plays a major role in their future success.
Later it came out that Deebo Samuel is tired of playing receiver and running back for the 49ers. So if San Francisco honors his request to play wide receiver full time, then perhaps they can work out a contract extension after all. Keep an eye on this situation, as trade rumors will continue to swirl until a deal comes to fruition.
