The San Francisco 49ers acquired Emmanuel Sanders from the Denver Broncos and no one is more excited about the move than the wide receiver himself. Upon arriving in San Francisco, Sanders is ready to make a difference in the 49ers offense.
“I needed a change of scenery, and it feels good to have a change of scenery,” Sanders said.com. “What a great locker room the 49ers have here, and I just want to bring even more positive energy and bring another spark to this offense.”
Prior to being traded to the 49ers, Sanders spent the past five and a half seasons with the Broncos. While in Denver, the veteran wideout made the Pro Bowl twice and helped the Broncos win a Super Bowl in 2015.
But ever since Peyton Manning retired after the 2015 season, the Broncos haven't had near the success they once had. In Denver's last 55 games, they hold a record less-than-ideal record of 22-33—with no playoff appearances.
Article Continues BelowThis season, the Broncos fell to 2-5 after a 30-6 blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. As a result, John Elway was prompted to begin fielding offers for veterans on the roster.
The Broncos decided to trade Sanders to the 49ers and both sides agreed it was best to part ways. Now, in San Francisco, Sanders will be joining an undefeated roster who has their sights set on a Super Bowl.
In the first seven weeks of the season, the versatile wide receiver has caught 30 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders is hoping he can provide some production at a position that the 49ers were in desperate need of.
