Jimmy Garoppolo was expected to lead the San Francisco 49ers to playoff contention this season. A full offseason of hype about the 49ers' starting quarterback ended abruptly when Garoppolo tore his ACL early in the season. He has undergone surgery and the future still sounds promising.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Garoppolo is expected to be ready for the starting of 2019 NFL training camp following surgery to repair his torn ACL.

Doctors found only a torn ACL and no other damage when they operated on Jimmy Garoppolo's knee last week, and the San Francisco 49ers quarterback is expected to be back in six to eight months, putting him on track to be ready for training camp, league sources told ESPN.

That is good news for San Francisco, who desperately need Garoppolo to come back at full strength. The surgery went well and things should be back to normal for the 49ers next season.

San Francisco is currently starting second-year quarterback C.J. Beathard under center. They are 1-3 heading into today's matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. It seems like their season is probably over, but that should not discourage fans from being excited about the future when their quarterback returns.

In the three games that Garoppolo was able to play in this season, he completed 59.6 percent of his pass attempts for 718 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. He was able to perform up to the level that fans were expecting and should do no different next season.

Kyle Shanahan and company have to be disappointed with the injury, but injuries are simply a part of the game.

Expect to see Garoppolo attack his rehab process and do everything in his power to come back stronger and better next season. San Francisco is in good hands moving forward, even if their 2018 season ends in disappointment.
