After the San Francisco 49ers beat the New York Jets on the bad turf at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, head coach Kyle Shanahan said his team will likely bench an injured Jimmy Garoppolo and play backup Nick Mullens next week against the New York Giants in the same stadium (per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport).

The NFL was hit with a rash of injuries in Week 2 of the regular season—and the 49ers were not above the brutal number of ailments.
Key players like 49ers starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, running back Raheem Mostert, and star defensive end Nick Bosa, last year's Defensive Rookie of the Year, were all sidelined during the game due to various injuries. Garoppolo's injury may have him miss next week's game against the Giants, but Bosa could miss the entire season with what is feared to be a torn ACL.
Mullens will likely start next week against the Giants in New Jersey after the 49ers handed the MetLife Stadium co-tenant Jets their second straight loss and got in the win column for the first time during the 2020 season themselves.
