The San Francisco 49ers have no intention of letting the flurry of free agency pass them by. The Niners have made their move and it comes in the form of cornerback Jason Verrett, who has reportedly agreed to a one-year extension worth $5.5 million with San Francisco.
This report comes via NFL insider Field Yates of ESPN:
Jason Verrett's one-year deal with the 49ers:
Signing bonus: $2M
Base salary: $2.5M
Per-game roster bonuses: $1M$1M incentives available via playing time, interceptions and the Pro Bowl.
A base value of $5.5M is outstanding value after how he played last year.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network has also confirmed the deal:
#49ers CB Jason Verrett had a multi-year offer on the table, but opted to bet on himself again. He shined when healthy. He gets a 1-year deal worth $5.5M that can be $6.5M if he makes the Pro Bowl. A solid deal.

There was some interest in Verrett as the free agency window approached, but as it is, the 49ers have been able to keep their man.
It is worth noting that Verrett reportedly turned down a multi-year offer from the 49ers. The salary cap is expected to rise at the end of the 2021 season, which for Verrett, presents an opportunity to strike a better deal — be it with San Francisco or with another team.
Verrett returns to the team for 2021 after starting 13 games for the Niners last season. It wasn't his best campaign, but at least he was able to remain relatively healthy throughout the season.
With the Verrett deal off the table, the 49ers will now need to focus their attention on Trent Williams, who himself remains to be one of the biggest names remaining in what has been an action-packed Day 1 of free agency. The Niners will need to dig deep into their pockets to retain the services of the highly-touted offensive tackle, but with how things are going thus far, San Francisco appears to be willing to meet the 32-year-old's demands.
