The San Francisco 49ers are hoping to get more out of their wide receivers in 2019. Trent Taylor is among the receivers who could be in for a breakout season this year.

According to David Lombardi of The Athletic, Trent Taylor is taking his game to a “new level” in training camp. So far in his career, Taylor has struggled to consistently stay on the field but this year may be different.

Entering his third season in the league, Taylor seems to be more comfortable in the 49ers offense. Currently, Taylor is battling a few wideouts to secure the slot receiver position.

As it currently stands, Dante Pettis and Marquise Goodwin are penciled in as the top two receivers in the offense. Besides Taylor, Deebo Samuel, Jordan Matthews, and Jalen Hurd are fighting for roles within the offense.

For Taylor, the third-year wideout is hoping to return to his form from his rookie season in 2017. That season, Taylor had 43 receptions for 430 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers may not blow anyone away but he flashed his potential as a perfect slot receiver for the 49ers.

Then, Taylor got off to an unfortunate start to the 2018 season with a back injury in the offseason. As a result, Taylor received back surgery and it hindered his progress in the preseason. Ultimately, his back issues prevented him from ever getting on track in the regular season too.

Now, Taylor says he feels like he “back to normal” and is back to being his older self.

A healthy version of Taylor could provide a much-needed spark to San Francisco's offense in 2019.
