The 2022 NFL offseason keeps getting crazier with Deebo Samuel's trade request. The San Francisco 49ers star could join Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill and others as big-time wide receivers to change addresses this year.

Many are wondering why Samuel might want out of San Francisco. There's the matter of a new contract, though the 49ers value Samuel and are open to negotiations. There's the fact that Samuel plays both receiver and running back, which adds more wear and tear to his body.

Another factor could simply be because of location.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says Samuel would like to be closer to home, which is South Carolina. Samuel was born in South Carolina, grew up there and went to college at the University of South Carolina.

Chris Simms also noted on PFT Live with Mike Florio that he has heard that the 49ers star doesn't want to live in California anymore. In addition to it being far from home, maybe he just doesn't want to pay that high tax rate anymore. Simms also noted some racist backlash that could be playing a factor. Who knows?

But given there are now multiple people, including Schefty, suggesting location is a factor for Deebo Samuel, this has to be taken into consideration as a legitimate reason for why the star wideout wants to go to a new team.

Will the 49ers actually trade Samuel? Indications are they don't want to do it, but if they get a monster offer, it would be hard to turn down given he doesn't want to be in San Francisco anymore. When a high-profile player publicly asks out like this, usually they wind up somewhere else, but maybe this gets settled and he winds up back with the club on a new contract.

Stay tuned.
