Much was made about the looming end of the Jimmy Garoppolo era in San Francisco. But after other quarterbacks like Deshaun Watson, Matt Ryan, and Carson Wentz all got traded to QB-needy teams, Jimmy G still remains with the 49ers.
The market has dried up quite a bit. While there's bound to still be a team interested in taking on Jimmy Garoppolo for the right price, there's been reason to believe the 49ers may not have many options left for their longtime starter.
According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the 49ers are reportedly telling teams about the offer they're sitting on while shopping Garoppolo to other NFL teams.

We’d heard the 49ers had been telling interested teams they have an offer of two second-round picks. If they did, they should have taken it. If they did, they surely don’t have it now.
At some point, they may have nothing. Even if they do, is it a team Garoppolo will want to join? If the new team wants him to extend his contract as part of the trade, will he decline? He’s got leverage.
So do the 49ers. With none of the money guaranteed, they can squat on him until the eve of the start of the regular season, waiting for an injury elsewhere to create an immediate need for Garoppolo or ultimately cutting him.
There's always the possibility that San Francisco is simply trying to create their own leverage by touting a trade offer that doesn't exist. But assuming it does, two second-round picks would be a decent haul for Jimmy Garoppolo given that he could potentially get cut for no return after interest waned over his shoulder surgery. If that offer was legitimately on the table, they might regret not taking in down the line.
