The Texans have traded defensive end Charles Omenihu on Tuesday to the Niners in exchange for a late-round draft pick. Via Ian Rapoport:
Sources: The #Texans are trading young pass-rusher Charles Omenihu to the #49ers in exchange for a future late-rounder. The former fifth rounder, who has been an intriguing trade name for weeks, has a new landing spot.

Omenihu has seven sacks in 35 games since being picked up in the fifth round in the 2019 NFL Draft. In the process, the Niners strengthen their pass rush, which ranks 20th in the NFL currently. The team has just 16 sacks this season, but Nick Bosa has seven of them.
Houston doesn't get much back in this trade, but Omenihu isn't exactly a very consistent player. He's shown promise at times, however, he hasn't registered a sack in six games in 2021. The Niners will essentially be hoping the former Longhorn can be a nice fit in their defensive system, who certainly need more depth.

Houston, I love you thank you for everything.

While it's not a high selection, Houston gains more draft capital for the future. As for the Niners, they're currently struggling at 3-4 but did beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Hopefully, a change of scenery could help Omenihu find his footing and make an impact on his new team. He will likely slot in behind Bosa and Arik Armstead when he arrives in San Francisco.
