The San Francisco 49ers' Kwon Alexander will be out for the remainder of the season.
The Niners squared off with the Arizona Cardinals in a Week 9 Thursday Night Football game between NFC West division rivals. San Francisco won the game, moving their record to a still perfect 8-0. However, not everything went well for them.
On Friday it was announced that linebacker Kwon Alexander has torn his pectoral muscle and will miss the remainder of the season.

Obviously, this is not great news for the 49ers. They have been a very surprising team this season. While many expected them to be solid, you would be hard-pressed to find someone that actually thought they would start off 8-0.
The main reason for that perfect start through nine weeks has been their defense. They have consistently put the clamps on their opponents each week. The defense has limited not only scoring, but yards. This gave the offense a chance to take over with a short field, leading to some extra points.
However, now they are losing a pretty big piece in Alexander. The linebacker is known for his ability to do it all on the field. That is highlighted by his stats in 2019, where he has 34 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one interception, four pass deflections and three tackles for loss.
Clearly, he makes an impact on every part of the game defensively.
The good news for the 49ers is that they are absolutely loaded defensively. Basically every position has a big name that you can point to. Due to that, it would not be surprising if someone — or everyone — stepped up in Alexander's absence and filled the void with their own excellent play.
