The Buffalo Bills have a quarterback quandary to deal with this offseason, and that mostly concerns signal-caller Tyrod Taylor. There is a possibility that the Bills will part ways with Taylor soon, which would leave Nathan Peterman as the immediate projected starter for next season. Bills coach Sean McDermott, however, would not speak much about the topic, when asked about it by reporters in Mobile, Alabama ahead of the Senior Bowl, per Mike Rodak of ESPN.

It’s a hazy comment from Sean McDermott, but it’s not also a comforting thing to hear for Tyrod Taylor. It might mean that the Bills would be on the lookout for another quarterback this offseason, as Peterman did not have a shining performance in 2017 either, passing for only 252 yards with just two touchdowns and five interceptions. As for Taylor, the dual-threat quarterback racked up 2,799 passing yards with 14 touchdowns against four interceptions and 427 rushing yards with four scores on the ground. Despite Taylor’s best efforts, the Bills still ranked 29th overall in total yards per game with 302.6.

Taylor signed a three-year contract with the Bills in 2015, and later inked a five-year extension in 2016. That contract got restructured in March of last year with Taylor getting a two-year $30.5 deal, per Spotrac.

The Bills had a topsy-turvy 2017 season. They finished with a 9-7 record and had to rely on the help of another team late in the season to get their first playoffs appearance since 1999.

The Bills had already made a major move in their offense right after they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round by firing offensive coordinator Rick Dennison.
