Earlier this week, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer announced his decision to stick with veteran quarterback Case Keenum as the starter over Teddy Bridgewater.

However, the chatter has remained around Bridgewater still being benched in favor of Keenum for the time being. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, the 25-year-old voiced on Thursday that he doesn't want any of the attention on him shifted away from the team.

“I don’t want this to be about me. It’s about us,” Bridgewater said. “We’re sitting in a good position right now, pushing for the playoffs. Hopefully home-field advantage or something like that so you can’t take the attention away from that.”

The Vikings have been able to ascend to one of the best records in the league with Keenum under center as the starter with a 7-2 record atop of the NFC North. He has also been quite effective as a passer in the process, as he has recorded 1,914 yards on 64.9 completion rate with 11 touchdown passes and a 92.6 quarterback rating.

Keenum is coming off a strong outing in the 38-30 win over the Washington Redskins, throwing for 304 passing yards on 21-of-29 completed passes with four touchdowns. Although Minnesota voiced its commitment to the 29-year-old, Bridgewater will likely remain in the picture if things go south in the coming weeks.

What makes things more interesting is that Bridgewater will enter free agency next offseason, and if he isn't playing there is a chance he could realistically entertain playing elsewhere. This all sets up what should be an extremely intriguing second half of the 2017 season for the Vikings.
