North Texas quarterback Chandler Rogers has entered the transfer portal, per Matt Olson at The Athletic. The transfer portal chaos has officially begun, with Monday marking the first day that players can officially enter their names.

North Texas QB Chandler Rogers has entered the portal as a grad transfer, @TheAthletic has learned.'

While the transfer portal has been bombarded with quarterbacks searching for new opportunities, Rogers serves as a top-level name. He had his best college football season in 2023 as the Mean Green's starting quarterback, notching 3,383 yards and 29 touchdowns, throwing just five interceptions on 421 pass attempts.

The best case that Rogers brings is that he can play somewhat as a dual-threat, scoring four touchdowns on the ground and his experience can't be bought. He's been in the college football atmosphere since 2019, competing for three schools to date.

Before his time with North Texas, Rogers played with USM and ULM, having little to no snaps with both programs. He's been an effective quarterback in the past two seasons and he'll continue to be that, as long as he stays in his realm of competition. Rogers may be looking to have a slight upgrade, or possibly a major program upgrade, where he'll likely be the backup quarterback option.

Rogers had a talented group of pass catchers in 2023, so it's clear that he needs a team that's already built around the quarterback. He'll likely weigh his options and take a few visits before making his decision and ultimately moving on from North Texas.
