The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have an abundance of money. How do we know this? Easy. The university will spend over a million real-life dollars to buy a game with Western Michigan.

That's right. According to people who do the entire buy-game market thing, Western Michigan going to South Bend is valued at $1.175 million. To be clear, that loot heads to the Broncos, as the Irish will be the ones taking care of the bill.

Western Michigan and Notre Dame announced that this is a single game dilly. It isn't a series or some weird home-and-home deal. Nope. Just the Broncos heading to South Bend to receive a fresh million while presumably getting their rears whooped.

The game will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. Nothing like a little Autumn mismatched football to get your blood flowing, is my motto! Seriously. Can't you feel the awesomeness of this game flowing through your veins yet?

You can't? Oh.

It will mark the fourth time the two teams have met in their long histories, but a decade since they last faced off in a 44-20 Irish win back in 2010.

It is worth noting that the Irish are likely trying to balance what is usually a pretty stiff schedule. They can't exactly face world-beaters each and every Saturday. Not when other programs across the country are using their non-conference schedules to defeat the cupcakes of the country.

This is what you get, I guess, when a program is an independent that is operating in a landscape filled with major football conferences.
