The Denver Nuggets were one of the many busy teams this offseason, as they tried to lure in some big name free agents to their fold. They were successful in signing All-Star forward Paul Millsap, and now have a more formidable lineup that will allow them to compete better in the tough Western Conference. They have now turned their attention to Gary Harris, who is already eligible to sign a contract extension, and are working on agreeing to terms with him ahead of their October 16 deadline.

According to Matt Moore of CBS Sports, both parties are nearing an agreement that will keep the 23-year-old Michigan State product in The Mile High City for the coming years. Should it come to fruition, the Nuggets will avoid allowing him to become a restricted free agent next summer, and be forced to match offers given to him by other teams, which could be more than what they are willing to pay him.

Gary Harris is entering the final season of his rookie scale contract, and has played impressive basketball for his team since he was drafted 19th overall back in 2014. He has been their starter at the shooting guard spot, and has produced solid career averages of 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals in 26.3 minutes per game.

Should a deal be struck soon, it could work wonders for Harris, as it will give him extra confidence knowing that the Nuggets think highly of him. After all, Harris is one of the league's best young 3-and-D players.
