The Denver Nuggets have reportedly not engaged in any “substantive discussions” about moving starting shooting guard Gary Harris at the trade deadline, according to Matt Moore of the Action Network.

Moore speculates the Nuggets would only move Gary Harris if the team was able to acquire a superstar talent.

In 32 games this season for the Nuggets, Harris is averaging 14.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists. The 24-year-old is shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 31.4 percent from beyond the arc and 81.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Denver has the second-best record in the Western Conference at 37-16 and looks like a legitimate title contender. The Nuggets seem to be planning to make Harris, point guard Jamal Murray and All-Star center Nikola Jokic the franchise cornerstones for the next decade.

So, unless the New Orleans Pelicans call the Nuggets to discuss an Anthony Davis trade, it makes no sense at all for Denver to part ways with Harris. After all, Harris is a great two-way player and hard worker

Harris signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension with Denver in the summer of 2017. The franchise acquired him from the Chicago Bulls in a draft night trade back in 2014. The five-year pro has career averages of 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
