Denver Nuggets guard Isaiah Thomas is expected to play his first game of the season on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings.

Despite being cleared to play, Thomas thinks he will never be 100 percent healthy again, but still plans to stand out for the Nuggets:

Thomas hasn't played since March of last year due to a recurring hip injury that has been bothering him for two years. He initially suffered this injury while playing for the Boston Celtics in the 2016-17 season, an injury that got worse in the postseason, and this led to him being traded to multiple teams the following season. He was dealt by the Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving, then Thomas was again traded by the Cavs to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers did not re-sign him even after he had a successful hip surgery, which led to Thomas signing a one-year deal with the Nuggets.

Although Thomas hasn't played all season, his teammates have constantly said positive things about his leadership and presence in the locker room. And now that he's making his return to playing basketball, IT is expected to help the Nuggets reclaim the top spot in the Western Conference.

Before suffering the hip injury, Thomas was considered one of the top point guards in the league. However, he's two years removed from that recognition, and whether he can reclaim it or not remains to be seen.

But here's to hoping Isaiah Thomas becomes more of an asset than a liability for this promising Nuggets team.
