After half a season without getting a single triple-double, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic finally got his first one this season during a 114-124 loss to the Golden State Warriors. Jokic posted 22 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, three steals, a block, and six turnovers while shooting an efficient 9-for-16 from the field in 36 minutes.

Jokic's triple-doubles were a story to follow during the second half of last season, as he established himself as one of the best passing big men in the NBA, if not the best. He had already flirted with several triple-doubles before this season. Jokic had 16 rebounds, 10 assists, but only eight points in a blowout win over the Toronto Raptors in early November. Three nights ago, he had eight points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists in a rough shooting night for him, losing to the Sacramento Kings.

According to StatMuse, Jokic now has more triple-doubles (7) in the last two seasons than all other NBA centers combined (6). Also, he needs just three more triple-doubles to tie Pau Gasol as the European with most triple-doubles in NBA history, a mark Jokic will most probably end up breaking this season, at most during the next one.

In just his third season, Jokic has made a strong impact on the Nuggets as a 41st overall pick from the 2014 NBA Draft. 2015-16 was his rookie season, and Jokic is still under his rookie contract throughout 2019. Jokic has played in 33 out of the Nuggets' 40 games this season, as he dealt with an injury that kept him sidelined during a tough seven-game stretch the team faced from December 2nd to December 13. The 22-year old is averaging 15.9 points, 5 assists, and 10.1 rebounds per game in 49.5 percent shooting from the field and 35.8 percent from three in 30.8 minutes a game this season, as he pushes the Nuggets into the playoffs. Denver has a 21-19 record and currently stands 7th in the Western Conference.
