Last year, the Denver Nuggets proved that they were one of the best teams in the league. The young team finished with the second best record in a crowded Western Conference, an impressive feat. The team's success was spurred forward thanks to amazing seasons from both Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. Team president Tim Connely had a chance to speak on Murray, and his effect on the team. Obviously, he had plenty of superlatives to describe his star guard.

“He's a huge part of what we're trying to do. The success we had last year can be largely attributed to his development as a lead guard. We've had a lot of success growing and developing under coach Malone's tutelage. It's not easy to let young guys play through mistakes.”

Additionally, Conelly acknowledged the connection between Murray and Jokic, who dominated the league using a devastating pick and roll. The president pointed out how the two players skill sets feed off one another:

“Nikola has such a unique feel for the game and has a great feel for how to maximize his teammates. Jamal has really figured out how to play off of him. He (Jokić) is so creative and does a great job of playing at his own pace. Those two have really developed into one of the best combos in the NBA.”

Connely has two of the leagues best young players on his roster, and they are clearly ready to make some noise in the league. Hopefully, we can witness even more growth out of the pairing next season.
