With the NBA trade deadline of Feb. 8 coming up fast, there are surely going to be teams that are active during that time. The Denver Nuggets, who are 26-25 and currently the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoff race, supposedly will be looking for big players. One name that has reportedly come up on the Nuggets' trade radar is Indiana Pacers point guard Darren Collison.

According to Sam Amick and Jeff Zillgitt of USA TODAY Sports, the Nuggets are actively going to be looking for a veteran point guard at the trade deadline and Collison is high up on their list.

“Denver will likely make a move of its own before the Feb. 8 trade deadline, as the Nuggets are known to be shopping for a veteran point guard who could allow Will Barton to return to his super sixth man role. According to two people with knowledge of the situation, they have serious interest in the Indiana Pacers’ Darren Collison (12.9 points, 5.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game this season as a starter) but have, thus far, been rebuffed. Collison, whose Pacers (28-23) are fighting to hold onto a playoff spot, has a team option worth $10 million on his deal for next season. The people spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because trade talks aren’t typically discussed publicly,” Amick and Zillgitt reported.

This would certainly provide depth at the guard position behind Gary Harris and rising star Jamal Murray. If Collison is added to the Nuggets in some sort of deal with the Pacers, he would also be a great veteran presence to their team.

Currently only a half-a-game ahead of the L.A. Clippers for the last playoff spot, the Nuggets will host superstar point guard Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder in a nationally-televised matchup tonight at Pepsi Center.
