After eleven months of inaction, Isaiah Thomas of the Denver Nuggets stepped into the court and drained his first basket.

Check out Thomas' first basket for the season via the Nuggets' Twitter:

Thomas entered the game late in the first quarter and received a standing ovation from the home crowd. It's been a long wait for Nuggets fans and Thomas himself.

To recall, not too long ago, Thomas was a leading MVP candidate. But a hip injury seemingly put a grinding halt to his rise to superstardom. Last season, he jumped from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers — seemingly sad tale of a player once heralded as the league's best.

Last summer, the Nuggets picked him up for a one-year deal.

Time can only tell if the Nuggets intend to keep Thomas long term. But his first basket seems like a good sign of things to come. His minutes will likely be limited in his first few games.

Apart from looking out for his injury, he may need to take some time to fully integrate himself into the Nuggets offense led by Nikola Jokic.

In a recent interview, Thomas seems determined to get back to MVP-caliber form.

“But my job is not to fit in, it’s to stand out, no matter what team I’m on. I’m going to do whatever I can to get minutes on the basketball floor and I’m going to play to win and help this team get to the next level,” he said per Mike Singer of the Denver Post.

Fans should keep their eyes peeled at how Thomas intends to reach his individual goals and how it will affect the team.
