Paul Millsap may not be as young as he used to be, but he made sure to put the league on notice that he is still a bad, bad man. After sealing an overtime victory with a second chance bucket against the Chicago Bulls earlier this season on Oct. 31, Millsap hammered down a put back dunk in similar fashion to increase the Denver Nuggets’ lead.

A Jamal Murray 3 at the top of the arc that bounced off the rim, hit the backboard, then fell into the hand of a launching Paul Millsap. The dunk left both his own teammates and opposing Bulls players on the court in awe.

It was a great moment for the 33-year-old power forward, as his numbers might not be as impressive as they used to be, but his impact on this team cannot be understated. Millsap has missed a few games, but in 35 games so far this season, he is putting up 12.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.9 blocks, and has been instrumental to the Nuggets creating their defensive identity. Brought in during free agency prior to last season for that very purpose, Denver is currently the leagues 12th best defense in the league. This is quite a leap from 25th and 29th the two seasons prior.

As they sit just one game out of the top seed in the Western Conference, big moments like this from Paul Millsap will help them stay atop of the competition in a logjam of a playoff race. If they seek to not just make the postseason, but pull off a solid run, they will just need to keep doing exactly what they are doing right now.
