The Ohio State football team made waves this offseason with its acquisition of a bumper crop of star players to add to what was already a really good football team in 2023-24. The Buckeyes lost in the waning seconds to archrival Michigan and were walloped by the Missouri Tigers in a shorthanded game without superstar wideout Marvin Harrison Jr.

Now, Coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes are looking to reload for the Class of 2025 with a hulking four-star defensive line prospect.

The latest intel came during the Buckeyes' pursuit of a high-profile 2027 recruit. The Buckeyes got a lofty ranking in the latest preseason poll.

Will Ohio State bring home the services of four-star d-lineman Trajen Odom? They could be getting closer based on the latest update.

The Buckeyes made the final cut for Odom along with two other traditional powers and the fast-rising (in terms of media exposure, anyway) Colorado football team. The news came via Hayes Fawcett on Thursday as the news broke.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound DL is down to six potential suitors. Hailing from Matthews, N.C., he is ranked as a Top-140 player in his class.

Fans react to 2025 Ohio State target announcement

Fans reacted in the comments section on X. The Buckeyes have made a stir on the recruiting circuit in the past year-plus adding transfer portal stars like Caleb Downs while reeling in a bumper crop of four- and five-star prospects as usual. Fans sounded hopeful that Ohio State would secure Odom's commitment.

“No Colorado son. You can do much better,” one reader said.

“In the words of the other poster on this thread, you don't want Colorado son,” one fan said.

“Georgia or Ohio State stand out here. Those schools produce NFL linemen.”

Ohio State reeled in top-caliber prospects, including Caleb Downs and Will Howard this offseason with an eye on winning now. The future could be much brighter.

The Ohio State football recruit list for 2025 is ranked No. 1 in the nation with Michigan far down the totem pole at No. 18. Trajen Odom's future commitment could make a fantastic class even better, if and when it does happen.
