It seems like it was just yesterday that the college football season ended as Michigan topped Washington in the national title game in Houston. When the game ended, the worst time of the year began for college football fans: the dreaded offseason. Nearly eight months without college football. It feels like it just started, but we are now in June, and college football is less than three months away. The weather is getting warmer, and we are inching our way closer to football season. The 2024 season is almost here for Oregon football, and Ducks fans can't wait for the new year to roll around.

Spring football is one of the best times of the college football offseason as a sense of hope comes to every fan base around the country. It's exciting to see your team in action in the first time, even though it's just a scrimmage. You start to see the roster taking shape and projected depth charts start trickling out. Spring football is the first sign of the season, and now that it's been over for awhile, college football fans are really in the home stretch. The cold winter months are tough to survive without football, but the excitement that comes with spring football makes everything easier. We're getting closer and closer to the season, and it will be here before we know it.

This next season of college football is going to be an exciting one, and there are a ton of reasons to be looking forward to it. There are a lot of changes coming to the game like rule changes, coaching changes, conference changes and playoff changes. Perhaps the most intriguing part of the new season will be the new conferences. The Pac-12 is gone, and the Big Ten and SEC are going to be loaded. They both seem to be on the verge of forming super conferences.

The SEC will be welcoming Texas and Oklahoma to the conference next year, and the Big Ten is getting a good crop of Pac-12 teams as USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington are all joining the conference. Both the Big Ten and the SEC are going to be absolutely loaded next year, and it seems like more schools will potentially join the conferences in the future.

Next season, the College Football Playoff will look different as well as it is expanding to 12 teams. There will also be first round games on college campuses. More teams will have a chance to make the CFP, and there will be more games. It's going to be fun.

Oregon football will be new to the Big Ten

Oregon football should once again be a contender in 2024. It will be a big year for the program as they are no longer in the Pac-12 and they will be competing in the Big Ten for the first time along with USC, UCLA and Washington. It's going to be a big change, but the Ducks are expected to be one of the best teams in the conference. They are bringing some good talent back from last year's team, and they have already picked up some great talent in the transfer portal.

The Oregon football team had a good season last year and they were one of the best teams in college football. The Ducks lost only two games, and they were both to Washington, who made it all the way to the national title game. Oregon had a chance to get into the College Football Playoff as they played the Huskies in the Pac-12 title game, and they were surprisingly big 9.5-point favorites. That line didn't make a ton of sense since Washington beat Oregon earlier in the year and they were undefeated, and the Huskies ended up winning outright to squash the Ducks' hopes of winning a national title.

Now that the spring transfer portal is closed, the Ducks have a good idea of what their roster looks like. They still have a chance to add some more players as there is a lot of uncommitted talent in the portal, but Oregon is done losing players.

Oregon football did a good job of limiting damage in the transfer portal this offseason. They picked up some good additions, and they didn’t lose much, especially in the spring window. They have also brought in some players that are going to be key for their success next season, and one of them is going to be their starting quarterback. Dillon Gabriel is going to be the transfer that has the biggest impact for the Ducks this season.

Dillon Gabriel will be on his third school for the 2024 season as he has transferred to the Oregon football team. Gabriel started his career at UCF, then he transferred to Oklahoma, and now he is with the Ducks. This will be his sixth season playing college football. He spent three years with UCF and two with Oklahoma.

Last season, Oregon didn't have any trouble at the QB position as they had Bo Nix as their starter, and he ended up being a first round draft pick. Dillon Gabriel is now his replacement, and the expectations for him at Oregon are certainly high. He is expected to be one of the best QBs in college football in 2024. The pressure is on.

The good news for Dillon Gabriel and Oregon football fans is that if he has another season like last year, the Ducks will be in terrific shape. Gabriel proved that he can be one of the best QBs in the country last season as he threw for 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns and just six interceptions. However, there is no guarantee that he will replicate those numbers.

One thing to keep in mind is that Gabriel played in the Big 12 last season, a conference that is notorious for having bad defense. This season, he will be playing in the Big Ten. The top dogs in the conference like Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State all had top-10 defenses last year. Gabriel is going to be up against tougher competition.

Life will be harder in the Big Ten, but Dillon Gabriel still seems poised for a successful season. He is going to have a huge impact on this Oregon football team.
