The Boston Bruins have been one of the better teams in the NHL all year. Unfortunately for Boston, they play in the Atlantic Division, which has three other teams that are among the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. As if it weren't difficult enough to compete, the Bruins have been hampered by injury lately.

Bruins superstar David Pastrnak did not play Tuesday, as he reportedly re-aggravated a previous injury last Saturday. Pastrnak has already been ruled out for Friday's pivotal game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. But not only are the Bruins going to be without Pastrnak, but they will also be without Hampus Lindholm. Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy commented regarding their injuries following Friday's practice, noted by NHL.com.

“Hopefully (Lindholm) gets on the ice tomorrow,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. “‘Pasta' didn't skate. I would say, Lindholm is probably a little ahead of Pasta in terms of who will play next but certainly neither tonight.”

It sounds as though Lindholm will not be out much longer. But Pastrnak's absence appears as though it could be a bit more lengthy. That's a problem for Boston as he is the team's leading goal scorer with 38 goals this season.

Lindholm was injured during the second period of Tuesday's deflating 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. The Bruins traded for Lindholm just before the NHL's trade deadline. Boston looked to bolster their blue line, adding one of the better defenseman in the league.

Boston is tied for third in the Atlantic Division with Tampa Bay with 93 points. For context, 93 points would be third in the entire western conference. Instead, the Bruins are trying not to finish eighth in the east.
