The New England Patriots edged the Buffalo Bills in their Monday Night Football showdown, albeit in a rather weird way.

Mac Jones and Co. didn't utilize their passing game that much–which is still an understatement to say the least. The Patriots made just three passes on the night, completing two of it for 19 yards. In the contrary, New England relied primarily on the run while their defense pretty much carried the load in the 14-10 win. They finished with 46 running plays out of the 49 they executed in the contest.

Still, the decision to not rely on their passing was rather shocking. After all, it is the first time since 1974 that a team finished with three or less pass attempts in a game. Ironically enough, the last team to do so was the Bills.

Moreover, per ESPN Stats & Info, such low pass attempt was never seen before in Patriots history. The three tries were their fewest ever in a single game, while the two completion were tied for the lowest as well.

Despite the rather unusual play-calling, a win is still a win and the Patriots should be proud of extending their winning streak to seven games. They improve to 9-4 on the season and retain the top seed in the AFC. Weird numbers aside, what could be better than that?
