Indiana Pacers guard Caris LeVert just can't catch a break when it comes to his health. LeVert is dealing with a stress fracture in his back, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, though there's some hope he'll be ready around the start of the regular season in about three weeks.

That certainly seems like an optimistic timeline given the injury, but hopefully it truly is just a “minor setback,” as Woj puts it. The Pacers guard will undergo more testing to determine the exact severity of the injury.

Still, this is another tough blow for Caris LeVert and a Pacers team that's already missing T.J. Warren for the start of the 2021-22 season. Indiana dealt with a ton of injuries as part of a disappointing 2020-21 campaign, and now it's happening again for new head coach Rick Carlisle.

LeVert has dealt with a lot over the last year. When he was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Pacers as part of the James Harden deal, it was discovered that he needed cancer surgery on his kidney. That kept him out for a while after the trade, but he was able to make a miraculous return later in the season.

Caris LeVert wound up playing 35 games for Indiana last season, averaging 20.7 points, 4.9 assists and 4.6 rebounds as Malcolm Brogdon's new backcourt partner. The Pacers were set to enter training camp expecting big things from LeVert, and now they're just crossing their fingers this back injury isn't a big problem.
