For Indiana Pacers star guard Victor Oladipo, basketball is looking like a soap opera in the week before NBA free agency and all the changes it will involve.

Oladipo was at Bloomberg's Players Technology Summit, where he shared his thoughts on the recent happenings in the NBA.

Per Kelly Edwards:

“Basketball is like a soap opera these days…I’m just focused on being the best player I can be.”

Though Victor Oladipo didn't go into the specifics, every avid NBA fan knows what he's talking about. Back in the day, basketball was just basketball. Fans cared about who's playing who, and who's the best team out there. From time to time, fans received news about the players' personal lives.

Now, it seems that drama, rumors, personal issues, and other sideshows have taken on a level of prominence which is equal to the game itself. Some seem even more interested in the latest free agency rumors, particularly on who's recruiting who. And of course, there's the continuous debate on who's truly the best player in the entire galaxy.

But as Victor Oladipo said, he remains focused on being the best player he can be. The “soap opera” part of today's NBA will likely around for the time being. But at the end of the day, we're all here for the game itself. Once all the free agency drama ends, it's just basketball. The game that we all love.
