Despite Aaron Rodgers' absence, the Green Bay Packers are still holding up in the NFC playoff race. At 5-4, the Packers still have a shot at reaching the postseason for the ninth consecutive year.

If Green Bay is 8-6 and Rodgers is fully healthy and ready to be activated, the Packers could be a scary team for their opponents. If his teammates hold up their end of that bargain, it appears the former MVP is holding up his.

When Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6, the initial timeline was eight weeks. As we approach the five-week mark this Sunday from when he endured the injury, Rodgers returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis, participating in conditioning drills before working on his throwing motion with a towel.

On Thursday, Rodgers texted with ESPN's Jason Wilde about his return to Packers practice and the current status of his recovery timeline.

“It was just good being back on the practice field,” Rodgers said in a text message Wednesday to ESPN Wisconsin’s Jason Wilde. “Schedule hasn’t changed. Out eight weeks. Only back if it’s completely healed.”

After losing to Minnesota when Rodgers got hurt, the Packers dropped a pair of games to the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions before defeating the Chicago Bears on Sunday. It was the best game of backup Brett Hundley's career; if they want to stay in the playoff hunt in a very crowded NFC race, he needs to continue playing like that until Rodgers is able to return.
