The Green Bay Packers are making a move, releasing running back Corey Grant and signing safety Ibraheim Campbell, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The Packers just signed Grant a couple of weeks ago, so they must've really not liked what they saw. A release like that wouldn't normally be so unusual, but the Packers gave Grant a $60,000 signing bonus, as Rob Demovsky of ESPN points out.

That's money down the drain, although the Packers have a pretty deep running back group so they probably felt like they weren't losing too much. Grant originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent back in 2015, and spent his first four seasons with the Jaguars.

The Jags thought highly of him for a while, even placing a second-round restricted free agent tender on him before last season. He showed some promise as a runner and returner, so it's a bit surprising to see him cut at this stage.

Campbell was a fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2015, and he started eight games for them in 2016. He was waived by the Browns midway through the 2017 campaign, and has bounced around since.

The Northwestern product had short stints with the Texans, Cowboys, and Jets, before landing in Green Bay. He was claimed off waivers by the Packers last November, and placed on injured reserve in December. He's been a free agent this whole time, and obviously there's some familiarity between the two sides even though Campbell didn't play for Green Bay's current coaching staff last year.
