The Green Bay Packers have expressed interest in free-agent linebacker Joe Schobert, according to Tom Silverstein and Jim Owczarski of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Schobert is seeking a contract worth $10 million a year and may receive more depending on how many teams are involved.

The Packers have their own free-agent linebacker in Blake Martinez, but Martinez is also looking for $10 million annually, a price Green Bay is not willing to pay.

Silverstein and Owczarski note that the Packers prefer Schobert to Martinez due to the fact that he is better in coverage.

Schobert, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wisconsin, was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round (99th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie campaign, but had a very limited role, logging 28 tackles. The following year, Schobert broke out, racking up 144 tackles, three sacks, an interception and three forced fumbles en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
