Rookie quarterback Will Grier will be making his first career start against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. He'll be taking over for the team that he grew up rooting for as a kid, the Carolina Panthers, a dream for anyone at a young age.

It comes after the Panthers chose to shut down 2015 MVP Cam Newton after his lisfranc injury. And with Kyle Allen having lost six starts in a row, it seems as if the Panthers will be riding the season out with the former West Virginia Mountaineer.

It's an exciting situation for a quarterback to make his first start, but Grier admits to feeling some pressure.

“It's one of those things as a quarterback you block out. But I can totally see the validation in [the decision to start on the road].

I'm extremely excited to get that game experience. I'm excited to actually play in a real game.”

His family will also be in attendance as his father and football coach, Chad, will be in the stands along with viral celebrities, Nash and Hayes.

“My family has been really cool about not being a distraction, but just really being supportive. This is my job. I come in here and focus and try to win games for the Panthers. When it comes down to it, that's being a professional, being able to do your job at the highest level.”

Grier is known for being a high school legend during his time at Davidson Day. Most notably for when he threw for over 800 yards and 10 touchdowns in a single game.

It's a mark that Greg Olsen says, “If he throws for 800 on Sunday, we should build him a statue.”

Grier says that whatever helps the Panthers win the game is, “good enough for me.”
